Flooring Buyer
Weisman Discount Home Centers (weismandiscounthomecenters.com) is a New York headquartered retail chain. We currently operate eight (8) stores in the metropolitan area. We have been in business for over 75 years. We are now expanding our store base in the New York metropolitan area and we are opening new stores.
The Company is focused on the kitchen cabinet, flooring and bath categories. Our store model is to offer great prices and customer service to our customers through convenient neighborhood locations.
We operate in a discount, no frills, low overhead, cash-and-carry environment. We sell quality products at a great value. We believe that our store model is unique and is in demand.
We are seeking an experienced Flooring Buyer to work directly with a small corporate headquarters team. Our stores are located in Brooklyn, Queens and Long Island.
The job requirements are as follows:
- You must have general home improvement merchandise product knowledge
- You must have some experience in purchasing ceramic floor and wall tile, and laminate and hardwood flooring.
- Meeting and negotiating with our vendors
- Attending trade shows to gain product knowledge
- Studying and reacting to the competition
- Managing your numbers, including open to buy, gross margin, inventory turnover and other key metrics
- You must be hands-on and be at ease with the details
- You must have good organizational skills
- You must be able to communicate effectively with our store personnel and our vendors
